The American Saddlebred Registry has announced that it will be offering Datamars Equine Slim microchips for purchase.
Microchipping is not a Registry requirement. Datamars microchips also are being used by the American Jockey Club, Turkish Jockey Club, and the Dutch Stud Book. The price for one microchip is $17.50, two to 10 are $15 each, and 11 or more are $12.50 each.
The ASR will record microchip numbers in its database upon receipt of the properly completed microchip recording form that will be mailed with the microchip. Once recorded in the database, the microchip number will automatically appear on the horse’s registration certificate at the time of printing and under the Horse Search option on the ASR website. ASR recommends that a licensed veterinarian implant the microchip.
