The Missouri Horse Shows Association (MHSA), Stephens College Equestrian Studies Department and the Boone County Extension Service have announced that, in conjunction with the MHSA Annual Awards Gala, on January 27, 2018, they will host a Horse Bowl Competition, which is open to all youth, 18 years and under.
Horse Bowl Competitions test equine-related knowledge and are generally held for 4-H and FFA participants. The competition will be held from 8 a.m.-12 p.m., with the awards ceremony that evening all on the Stephens College campus. There is no cost for participation in the competition, although individual and team winners are strongly encouraged to attend the awards gala that evening. Scholarship opportunities to Stephens College, William Woods University, the University of Missouri—CAFNR, and Moberly Area Community College will be awarded, along with other prizes. Judges for the competition include William Woods faculty members Sarah Track and Laura Ward.
The weekend also includes the opportunity to participate in a roundtable discussion with World and National Champion trainer Smith Lilly on Friday evening, audit a clinic with Smith Lilly at Stephens College Equestrian Center on Saturday, and attendance at the Awards Gala on Saturday evening.
