The American Morgan Horse Association has announced its second regional show of the season is about to begin. Presented by the Virginia-Carolinas Morgan Horse Club, the 47th Annual Southern States Regional Morgan Horse Show will take place at the James B. Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina, May 23-25.
Morgan horses, many of which are current or past world champions, will be competing for the prestigious honors at this year's show. Classes also are offered for Saddlebreds, Friesians, Hackneys, and Roadsters. Performance classes will take place daily in the main ring at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Special morning sessions include Working Hunter on Friday, and Carriage Driving and Dressage on Saturday. This year's judges are Bill Waller, Carol Bishop, Maryanne Boyden, and Barbara Prather, and Elizabeth Holmes is the show manager.
Fun events for exhibitors throughout the week include an ice cream social Wednesday evening, the Exhibitors Party on Friday evening, and Saturday afternoon will be a Memorial Day picnic.
