Leaders of the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association, American Hackney Horse Society, American Road Horse and Pony Association, and the United Professional Horsemen’s Association met Sunday evening to reinstate the Joint Leadership Council (JLC), comprised of leadership from all four membership organizations.
The decision to recreate the JLC came after each group’s boards met in emergency meetings late last week to discuss the World’s Championship Horse Show’s decision to change oversight bodies for its show at the Kentucky State Fair in August. The decision was made without the knowledge or input of any of the JLC organizations.
JLC has worked together successfully in the past to create unity of our voices when addressing issues of concern to our memberships, our horses, and the industry.
JLC leadership includes Andy Freseth and Maureen Quackenbush to represent AHHS; Chad Cole and Melissa Moore for ARHPA; Allen Bosworth and David Mount for ASHBA; and Paul Boone and Kristen Cater for UPHA.
The group’s immediate goal is to present a united front and help find the best path forward for all of our members regarding the WCHS, as well as our industries as a whole.
The JLC and the organizations it represents are committed to keeping their memberships informed and updated promptly.
