US Equestrian has recently updated its online Drugs & Medications Guidelines. Representatives of the Joint Leadership Council (ASHA, AMHA, AHHS, UPHA, ARHPA) have been working with USEF to make modifications to these guidelines that ensure the welfare and safety of horses and athletes, while recognizing that new technological advancements offer more flexibility than in the past. The recent amendments will help veterinarians, in their role as guardians of the horse, to assist their clients in responsible management of their horses when competing under USEF rules and regulations. The Joint Leadership Council strongly recommends that members consult their veterinarian for guidance in following these guidelines.
